Logs and Firewood

At Rainfords Farm we offer both kiln dried and seasoned wood (all under 20% moisture). Great for burning outside in fire pits as well as perfect for any enclosed fire in your home.

Our seasoned logs are all naturally dried here at the farm. We also have unseasoned wood for you to dry out yourself in your own wood store (minimum order required). We source locally as much as we can and all our wood is precision cut to a maximum of 250mm, an ideal length for all burners.

We always have Silver Birch in stock at the farm - it's the most popular across Northern Europe as a great starter log. It burns clean and bright and is a great hardwood. Perfect for summer, it's a great 'summer wood' as it is great for holiday cottages, camping and pizza ovens. It's easy to light and lasts for a few hours.

To build a fire you will need firelighters and kindling. Our firelighters are completely natural, a wood wool with a wax coating. 1 or 2 lit under some kindling will get your fire started. Our kindling comes in 9 litre nets and is a kiln dried, soft wood, perfect to get the fire going before you layer up your hardwood logs on top.

As well as always having Silver Birch at the farm, our seasonal additions include Oak, and Ash. Both heavy, dense woods. Slow to get going but burns hotter and lasts longer. Both woods are in high demand and stock never hangs about for long!

Seasonally we also have Sweet Alder, a beautiful, sweet smelling wood, burns readily and is particularly great for fire pits.

Lastly to keep your fire going, we always recommend purchasing some briquettes. Made up of compressed, hard wood shavings, add to your dying fire, this will retain the heat in your burner and the briquette will radiate heat all night ready to reignite your fireplace with new logs come morning.

We offer kiln dried and seasoned mixed bags of hard and soft wood in various sizes.
